What the guidance says

The Middle District of Georgia posts a one-page guidance document on the use of artificial intelligence on its Filing Without an Attorney page. It is addressed to self-represented parties: “Pro se parties are strongly encouraged to be cautious when using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT. AI does not alleviate a party’s responsibility for making sure that all facts and legal authorities cited in court filings are accurate.”

It warns that failure “may result in sanctions under Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure,” which “could include, if appropriate, dismissal of your lawsuit,” sets out the text of Rule 11(b), and closes: “Again, you are responsible for making sure that your use of AI conforms with Rule 11.”

How the tracker treats it

The document is listed as advisory. It imposes no disclosure or certification step; the accuracy duty it describes is Rule 11’s.
